Everyone has heard of roulette and most people probably know how to play it. If you are one of those rare souls who doesn’t know, or who might have forgotten, here is a primer.
To begin playing, you need to place your bet on the table. There are many different types of bets you can make, and each has its own odds and payout. Some common types of bets include betting on a single number, a group of numbers, or the color of the number – which is red or black.
Once you have placed your bet, the dealer will spin the wheel and drop the ball onto it. The ball will eventually come to a stop on one of the numbered slots on the wheel. If the ball lands on a number or group of numbers that you have bet on, you win!
The confusion comes in here…. There are two types of roulette: American and European. The main difference between the two is that the American version has an additional “00” slot on the wheel, which increases the house edge. So, if you have the option, it’s generally better to play European roulette.
