Las Vegas Strip casino workers and three gambling companies struck labor contract deals this week after months of negotiations, narrowly avoiding a strike ahead of the high-stakes Formula One race weekend in the city.

The Culinary and Bartenders unions had set a Friday strike deadline to reach deals for about 35,000 workers at MGM Resorts, Caesars Entertainment and Wynn Resorts. The unions represent housekeepers, bartenders, servers, bellmen and other hospitality workers in Las Vegas. The tentative agreements for five-year contracts affect workers at 18 casinos including flagship properties Caesars Palace, the Bellagio and Wynn.
